New at Lightweight: DT Swiss Hugi hubs

All rear wheels are built around DT Swiss 240s hubs. Lightweight uses slightly modified versions of these very light and robust hubs. The hubs are compatible with either Campagnolo 9/10-speed or Shimano 9/10-speed cassettes with an easy change of the freehub body.

We no longer build wheels around Shimano Dura Ace and Campagnolo Record hubs. We had continued to stock these specifically for pro use due to their supposedly stronger internals. However, almost all orders we have gotten from professional teams have been for the DT Swiss hub. Thus, we now employ only the modified hubs from the Swiss manufacturer.

Ãâ€Ã…¡Ãƒâ€Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚» 2003 Tour de France.

All our wheels can be ridden by any rider regardless of weight. Even the 12-spoke model is safe for road racing by heavier riders.

The 12-spoke front wheel

Ãâ€Ã…¡Ãƒâ€Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚» Tour de France 2003.

Our 12-spoke wheel is ideal for time trialing. If it’s you against the clock there is nothing else like it! Be it in road events or triathlons, this is the top performer when it comes to reducing drag and weight. However, use it for road races, fast-paced crits or long-distance events in the Alps or Rockies as well, for it is strong enough to take what you throw at it – laterally stiff and durable. You might be thinking back to a 12-spoke wheel you once rode and getting goose bumps remembering how soft it was? Lightweight Wheels are different. The fiber spokes are much stronger than any other material. Until today there has not been a single broken spoke (except for crashes, of course)!

The 16-spoke front wheel

Ãâ€Ã…¡Ãƒâ€Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚» 2002 Tour de France.

The 16-spoke front wheel is preferred by most pros for all-around use. It is extremely stiff and will make you love it for its precise cornering. Use it on the rough cobbles of Belgium or the mountain stages of the large tours. It is often used in time trials or triathlon, as well.

The 20-spoke front wheel

Ãâ€Ã…¡Ãƒâ€Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚» 2002 Pro Worlds.

This is our sturdiest front wheel – but it still weighs only 485 g! The spokes can hold 1200 kg each – that’s 2540 pounds for those of you on the other side of the big pond! No wonder this wheel is the obvious choice for cyclocross racers, sprinters and other brutes looking for the stiffest wheel rather than the lightest or most aerodynamic.
